Oral Health Analysis and Hygiene

We now know more about processes that can damage teeth and gums. We also know how the mouth can reflect general health issues. Our practice takes special care to investigate the issues that might be affecting the overall health of our patients and the effect medical conditions have on dental health.

The role of a Dental Hygienist

Dental Hygienists are trained in the treatment and prevention of dental diseases.

They collaborate with the dentist to formulate an individualized treatment plan in conjunction with regular recall maintenance therapy. Their special training enables them to clean teeth, remove stains and treat gingivitis, periodontal disease and apply decay preventing agents.

The Hygienist provides dental health education tailor made to the patient's needs and recommends products for at home use. Dental Hygienists are able to explain the new techniques in home care for adults and children to prevent future decay and gum problems.

Why do I need to see a Hygienist?

Regular professional cleaning to remove plaque and tartar, combined with looking after your teeth and gums properly at home with correct tooth brushing and flossing daily will help to prevent dental disease.
